Active aging promotes the vision of all individuals - regardless of age, socioeconomic status or health- fully engaging in life within all components of wellness: intellectual, physical, social and spiritual.

Research shows that an active lifestyle can lessen the challenges and increase the opportunities associated with aging. Active aging provides environments, programs and places that support individuals in living well and taking charge of their health and wellness.

Green Hills Community promotes active aging to residents and members. They enjoy the Aquatics Fitness Center as well as cooking classes, Wednesday church service, Matter of Balance and much more to ensure they have the tools they need for active aging.

Holy Yoga begins Feb. 19
With the success of the weekly Yoga classes at Green Hills Community, an additional session is being added that includes a worship component to the wellness aspect of the class. The new class is called Holy Yoga.
Holy Yoga is an opportunity to deepen one's connection to Christ. The sole purpose of the class is to facilitate a Christ-honoring experience that offers an opportunity to believers and non-believers alike to authentically connect to God through His Word, worship and wellness.
The weekly sessions of Holy Yoga begin at 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 19, in the Green Hills Chapel.
The teacher for this class, and other Yoga classes offered at Green Hills, is Jessica Green of rural Bellefontaine. She received her Physical Therapy License from Sinclair Community College in 2008. While in college, she joined the Army National Guard and served in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Because of her desire to improve the health of others as well as being a positive influence in her clients' lives, she recently obtained her license to practice Holy Yoga and is currently studying to become a Yoga Therapist.

Holy Yoga Experience offered April 7
Jessica will also be offering spiritual Yoga retreat called the Holy Yoga Experience from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 7, in Foundation Hall. The cost is $15 per person. There will be snacks, worship music and yoga demonstrations. To register, call Nita Wilkinson at 650.7146.
